CANON DZONE AT DIGITAL EXCHANGE GLORIETTA 3
By The Technews Staff
In the old days, we get cameras from camera stores or photo shops that also offer film developing services. As photography "purists" still continue to use film cameras over digital ones, the old-school photo shop is still around offering the same service. But they are now also selling digital cameras and accessories.
Cameras are now sold almost anywhere from photo shops to PC shops to appliance stores. And Canon leads the local market when it comes to digital imaging. Hearing that Canon has put up several service centers around the metro, we did a little snooping around at the Digital Exchange in Glorietta and instead found the Canon DZone store.
Operated by Silicon Valley, Canon DZone carries only Canon imaging products and accessories. We asked the branch cashier, Melanie Mediavillo, about what they store currently offers to its clients.
“Our most sought after Canon product these days is the Canon EOS 400D, which is the latest entry level SLR with an SRP of P48,500,” Melanie said. “Since it was introduced in our shelves last September 2006, so many customers have purchased it. The whole package includes the camera body, 18 to 55 mm standard lens kit and accessories.”
The store exclusively sells Canon products ranging from compact digital cameras, Digital SLRs, printers, lenses and other accessories. Since they are situated in Glorietta, most of their clientele are from the Class A market and professional photographers, and several big enterprises.
“Our Class A clients are always looking for the high-end products like the Powershot A640 and the new IXUS 900Ti. When it comes to video cameras, the ones with mini DVD-R are the most saleable. We also market high-end lenses that range from P100K above, which are for professional photographers,” Melanie said.
There are a few products at Canon DZone that are not really Canon products the Vanguard camera bags and Kingston memory cards. Since Canon doesn’t really make camera bags, Canon DZone carry these two brands so that customers don’t have to look far for bags and memory cards for their cameras
With regards to their printers, they also carry Canon photo papers and consumables. Canon digital media and battery chargers can also be found here. Canon DZone store is more focused on sales since they opened in October 2004.
“Since we’re purely on sales, we don’t do servicing of Canon products. What we do to customers is we refer them to the nearest Canon service center, which is in Pasong Tamo,” Melanie said. “The products are actually inspected there in case the problems are mechanically-related.”
