Internet-ordered Picatoo print quality assured with Fujifilm technology

By EDISON D. ONG

Portable digital photo printers, the size of a makeup kit or a lunch box, are cool. They print quality photographs on the spot.

However, if you are particular with professional quality and real photographs, then you let the experts do it. The good news is, it could turn out to be much cheaper per print. Plus your orders could be delivered for free right up to your doorstep.

Enter Picatoo (www.picatoo.com), a joint venture effort between Mozcom and YKL Color Lab. (Fuji YKL), the Philippines’ exclusive distributor of Fujifilm products. Photographs ordered for print via the picatoo website are printed using the Fuji Digital Minilab Frontier developing system, a crystallization of Fuji Film’s imaging technology.

Together with Image Intelligence, Fuji film’s image correction technology, the customer is assured of optimum prints at reasonable prices.

Picatoo prints are charged at the same price as regular YKL Photo Developing Center. The typical 4R-sized print costs six pesos and is available in either glossy or matte paper. Picatoo prints are delivered for free to the customer’s house for a minimum purchase of 250 pesos for Metro Manila and 300 pesos for outside of Metro Manila.

In a press statement issued at an exclusive press preview, Tin Loya, Business Development Manager, Mozcom, stated, "The quality of Fuji prints enables us to assure our customers of quality photographs in the form of prints that will last a lifetime.

Aside from conventional-sized prints, Picatoo also prints photo posters up to the size of 12 x 18 inches. Specialized creations like customized mugs, calendars, mouse pads, t-shirts, and more are also available.

The website boasts of a simple system with a userfriendly interface. Photos can be uploaded using a Web browser and employing simple drag-and-drop operations. It also has a robust payment system that accepts all major international credit cards, BancNet and Megalink ATM accounts, Globe G-Cash, SMART Money, and UCPB my1Time.

Launched last December 2006, Picatoo allows its users to develop their digital images from the comforts of their homes. "We saw an opportunity in digital photography printing because of the growing number of digital camera owners and their need for a user-friendly and reliable online printing solution," added Loya.

Mozcom brings its extensive knowledge in Internet technology and expertise from years of maintaining the connectivity and websites of the country’s top universities, government offices and private companies to operate the Picatoo online printing service.

For its part, YKL Lab brought digital technology to the forefront with the FinePix line of Digital Cameras and the Fujifilm Digital Imaging Services catering to the ever-growing photographic industry.
