Inclusive education for all children ABOUT 120 million children with disabilities (differently abled) worldwide live in poverty, and they are more likely to drop out of school, says a recent report of the United Nations independent expert on the right to education. The report notes that in educational systems that segregate these children from those without disabilities, special educational programs often do not meet the unique needs of the differently abled because of limited resources and facilities and the lack of strong political will of many governments to take responsibility for the education of these children. The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Education for All (EFA) program seeks to unite all EFA partners in their efforts to provide access to and promote completion of quality education for every child, youth, and adult who are differently abled.
