Seven Genuine Opposition (GO) senatorial bets made it to the Top 12, which also included three candidates from Team Unity (TU) and two independents in the second day of the National Citizen’s Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel) Operation Quick Count 2007 at the De La Salle University in Greenhills, San Juan.
GO candidates dominated the top four of the senatorial race with Loren Legarda at no. 1 with 1,116,587 votes followed by Francis "Chiz’’ Escudero, 1,113,504; Panfilo Lacson, 964,484; and Manuel Villar, 960,615.
Independent senatorial bet Francis ‘’Kiko’’ Pangilinan was ranked no. 5 with 954,820 votes. Benigno ‘’Noynoy’’ Aquino III followed him with 923,962; then, Edgardo J. Angara, 829,879; Joker Arroyo, 792,960; Alan Peter Cayetano, 724,479 votes; and Gregorio "Gringo" Honasan at 10th place with 719,643 votes.
Completing the top 12 are Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III who got 710,979 votes at 11th place and TU’s Juan Miguel Zubiri, 704,690.
Antonio Trillanes IV, who showed a strong showing in the first day of the quick count was relegated to the 13th place with 697,688 followed by Ralph Recto, 686,586; and Prospero Pichay, 661,553.
Mike Defensor got 642,497; Sonia Roco, 554,216; Cesar Montano, 526,322; John Osmeña, 467,216; and Vicente Sotto III, 466,157.
Another administration bet, Vic Magsaysay was at no. 21 with 430,954 votes. Anna Dominique Coseteng got 317,468 votes followed by Luis ‘’Chavit’’ Singson, 291,451; Tessie Aquino Oreta, 271,783. Jamalul Kiram was at 24th place with 182,849 followed by Richard Gomez, 170,293.
Ang Kapatiran Party senatorial bets Zosimo Jesus Paredes II got 58,512 votes, Martin Bautista, 57,429; and Melchor Chavez, 56,655.
Controversial Joselito Cayetano got 50,198 votes followed by Oliver Lozano, 34,369; Adrian Sison, 30,889; Antonio Estrella, 30,528, Victor Wood, 29,098; Ruben Enciso, 13,925; Felix Cantal, 11,225; and Eduardo Orpilla, 11,154.
The partial and unofficial results came from Regions I to XII, ARMM, Caraga and CAR. The tally comprised 10.61 percent of the total votes cast in 23,837 precincts around the country.
For party-lists, Buhay topped the elections with 23,128 votes followed by Abakada, 19,194; and Bayan Muna, 13,139;
Gabriela received 10,689 votes followed by Anad, 9,646; Cibac, 9,615; Akbayan, 8,617; Batas, 6,049; COOP-NATCO, 5,675; and ADD rounded up the top 10 party-list with 5,494 votes.
Meanwhile, the Namfrel quick count was once again delayed for at least 11 hours after it experienced problems in the printing of tally sheets.
Namfrel Chairman Edward Go said that they were not able to print out the tally sheets immediately because of the unavailability of an operator from the printing machine.
Namfrel wants to complete the tabulation of at least 70 percent of election returns until May 24.
