The Union Christian College (UCC) dares to make its rightful place among the best and finest institutions of higher learning not only in Ilocos region but in the whole country.
This is manifested in the Strategic Plan of UCC President, Rev. Dr. Filemon L. Lagon in the next five years which shall be realized through specific seven-point agenda as follows: 1) Shifting the paradigm to student-centeredness as main focus of services and resources committed to the finishing of physical plant and other development projects and aims to continue the face-lifting of activities by upgrading labor and improving environment for teaching-learning i.e. laboratory, languages, information technology, and teaching strategies; 2) Enhancing faculty and staff development programs through researches of faculty by turning income-generating projects through CAED to support instruction, computerization of library programs and continuous skill trainings, orientation, and 5’s implementation; 3) Expanding the environment services of UCC for the moral and spiritual welfare of her constituency through more students’ participation in bible studies, ecumenical services, Christian formation and tie-up with UCCP; 4) Integrating the Service Plans of all academic areas to enhance quality learning, deeper commitment, and integrative humanology functions; 5) Enhancing more student services to make them wholistic individuals through more exposure through socializations, extra-curricular activities, personal conduct, sports programs, and a strong human personality perspective; 6) Increasing the financial resources and development of the college through streamlining and normalizing the budget, initiating more strategies to generate income and other service fund development programs, increase the UCC Centennial Foundation Fund and developing income-generating projects with tie-up with agencies; and 7) Pursuing new initiatives, program expansions through tie-up with UP College of English, Brain House Philippines, Consortium with 1,000 Malaysian scholars, ladderized curriculum and short-tem courses, and making the institution a CENTER OF DEVELOPMENT in order to get support of one Million from the government for our Teacher-Education projects.
With Dr. Lagon at the helm, UCC has to continuously embark on new and better paths and courses of action to face the challenges for the next years with determination and dedication in the light of the needs and demands of the times.
Indeed, the strength of this institution lies in part on the support given to the College by supportive benefactors and friends who had shared their endless assistance to the college. The UCC faculty, staff and studentry as one UNITED FAMILY, support Rev. Dr. Lagon’s administration to prove that they are the driving forces to carry on the vision, mission, and goals of the college. UCC holds high hopes that it will be able to carry out its vision and objectives through all the years until her 100 founding anniversary, the year 2010.
