The Chaotic Throne Gamers' Anticipation Heats Up

A new saga unfolds as "Lineage II: The Chaotic Throne" arrives in SIngapore, Malaysia and the Philippines simultaneously with the rest of the world. The first saga of Lineage II, called “The Chaotic Chronicles,” recently came to its conclusion with the end of its last chronicle, “Oath of Blood.” Currently, Lineage II fans are excited for the game with “Interlude,” a transitional expansion between the old set of chronicles (Chaotic Chronicles) and the new chapter (Chaotic Throne).

“In the previous Chronicles, we focused on general MMORPG content such as PvE (Player versus Environment), PvP, Castle Sieges, etc. Starting with Interlude, we are considering larger scale content based on the foundation that we have made so far,” said Lineage II Lead Game Designer, Jae-Hyuk Han in an interview for  MMORPG.com.

Han reveals that  “Chaotic Throne” will not merely be a continuation of the previous chronicles but a bold new gaming experience for both new and old fans of Lineage II. Chronicles  are large-scale updates to the online game done every half year, which gamers may download for free in the form of a patch. Each chronicle also adds a great deal of new content to the game, including new skills, quests, areas and items.

“We are preparing a new race, which can be started by both existing and new players,” Han reveals. “It is difficult to discuss all the details; however, it will allow for a new style of fun differentiated from the existing classes. We are also planning content that combines PvP and PvE where well-raised characters take an active part in. The content will allow all scales of clans, from large to small, to have a role to prevent the exclusive possession of castle by a few gigantic-scale clans,” adds Jae-Hyuk Han.

For players that align themselves into large groups quickly, Lineage II: The Chaotic Throne promises truly epic battle systems. Although not a liberty to discuss details yet, Han ventured to say that “our current goal is to  make a spectacular battle system that's going to tale place in land, water, and sky on a very large scale.”

“We would like to upgrade this content to the next level,” Han adds. “We would like to see nations competing and eventually servers competing. Our goal is to make a game that can give you joy and tears. There are many plans for the Chaotic Throne. Fortress/territory/nation wars are one of them and we'd like to make it so that everyone can join the war with fewer worries about the PvP penalties. We are also planning to add unique rewards for PvP content. We are currently going through much testing and careful review of the future updates. Our goal is to provide fun to you rather than stress.”

The medieval fantasy MMORPG has drawn millions of loyal fans attracted to Lineage II's combination of fantasy combat and the unique social/political/economic struggles developed through the community and by the in-game actions of individual gamers. Like most MMORPG, gamers may play alone or as part of a group to fight monsters and complete quests for new skills, experience points, and items. Lineage II also features siege warfare; but to make sure PvP (Player versus Player) stays under control, the design includes a Karma system that provides negative consequences for killing other players when they do not fight back.
