‘Great Men and Women of Asia’ book launch set
The Ramon Magsaysay Foundation will hold a triple launch for the latest volumes of the ‘’Great Men and Women of Asia’’ book series to coincide with the 2007 Ramon Magsaysay Awards on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at the Magsaysay Center, Roxas Blvd., Manila.
The Great Men and Women of Asia series features the inspiring stories of Asian heroes recognized for their leadership and community service. The Ramon Magsaysay Awards, also known as Asia’s premier peace prize, recognizes men and women from the regions of South Asia, Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia.
‘’Great Men and Women of Asia’’ Volumes 6, 7 and 8, the latest three volumes of the series, feature awardees from Southeast Asia. The series is edited by Cecile Balgos and Lorna Kalaw–Tirol with a total of 41 writers contributing 91 stories in the three latest volumes.

PLAI-NCR holds librarians’ seminar
The Philippine Librarians’ Association (PLAI) NCR, National Book Store and Anvil Publishing, Inc. will host a seminar on ‘’Preparing Libraries for Emergencies and Disasters’’ by Heather Mansell, the chief librarian of the State Library of New South Wales in Australia, on Aug. 30, during the Manila International Book Fair at the World Trade Center.
The talk will focus on useful techniques in preparing library collections from all types of natural disasters such as fires, floods and earthquakes. Participants can also avail of special prices on all titles displayed at the Anvil booth during the event. There will also be a daily customer raffle.
