Another Euro-Fil talent is out to prove mettle in local showbiz
Jon Avila (Jonathan Mullally in real life) is another Euro-Fil talent who’s out to prove his mettle in local showbiz. Jon was launched recently as one of the newest talents of ABS-CBN Star Magic. "I never thought I could be an actor here," Jon said during a press conference for him and the other September-born talents of Star Magic. He was quite on the heavy side before, but he exercised, mostly through boxing, and he’s now minus 30 lbs., his lean physique complementing his more than 6" height.

| Jon Avila | | Born and raised in London, Jon’s mom, the former Teresita dela Cruz, a nurse is from San Ildefeonso, Bulacan, while his father is Irish (from whom he inherited his greenish eyes). Jon finished Business Studies at the Chalmsford College and was an account manager in a bank in London prior to his discovery as a ramp and print ad model (for Bench) first and then artist of Star Magic. He’s now enjoying his stint in show business, but admits showbiz is very different from modelling. Showbiz though has given him more opportunities to showcase his other talents.
Through The Filipino Channel (TFC), his parents in London can see his performances on ABS-CBN shows, like "ASAP ’07," "Engkantao," and "Your Song" where he appeared with Piolo Pascual and then with Sam Milby. "Of course, they’re proud of me, especially my mom," Jon shared. Jon is also appearing, with Jennylyn Mercado, Agot Isidro and Jodi Santamaria, in an indie movie entitled "Nars" where he plays the role of a nursing student. By the way, on turned 22 last Sept. 1.
Jon has also started shooting his scenes in the Aga Muhlach-Anne Curtis movie "Waiting for Love," a Star Cinema presentation. On the personal side, Jon said he’s without a girlfriend at the moment, and if ever, he’d like to have a Filipino girlfriend.
Another September-born Star Magic talent is Denise Laurel of the famous Laurel clan of performing artist. Denise turned 20 last Sept. 30. One of the busiest artists of the network,Denise has three shows on ABS-CBN: "Natutulog Ba ang Diyos," where she plays the girlfriend of Joross Gamboa; "Pedro Penduko," with Maja Salvador, Oyo Boy Sotto, Arron Villaflor, Makisig Morales and Matt Evans, and soon "Prinsesa ng Banyera" as the young Jaclyn Jose.

Nene Tamayo, former Pinoy Big Brother big winner, marked her milestone last Sept. 27 and she celebrated her special day with her family. She’s happy with the success of the recent concert (at the Araneta Coliseum) entitled "Housemates May Buhay Pa" which she co–produced and which featured former housemates. The concert was to coincide with the first anniversary of PBB 1.

| Erich Gonzales | | Erich Gonzales, former Star Circle Grand Questor, has gone a long way as she is now one of the most in demand actresses in ABSCBN. Aside from several guestings, she has been commended for her good performances on TV like in "MMK" with Gov. Vilma Santos, Callalily, and Sharlene San Pedro; "Sana Maulit Muli" with Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson. Erich is also in "Abt Ur Luv" as Waling Waling with John Wayne Sace as her leading man.
