Rep. Luis Villafuerte of Camarines Sur, president of the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi), yesterday deplored the inclusion of his name in reports alleging moves to oust House Speaker Jose C. de Venecia Jr. of the House of Representatives.
He issued the following statement:
"I am appalled by irresponsible and totally baseless stories linking me to alleged "Oust JdV" plots in the House of Representatives."
"I have been sick in the past week and my doctors have imposed total bed rest. Simply, I have unwillingly put myself out of circulation, yet media reports ascribing my involvement in such rumors and conspiracy stories keep on coming out."
"I categorically deny any involvement in these alleged conspiracies and rumors seeking the ouster of House Speaker Jose C. de Venecia Jr. Likewise, I would like to categorically put it on record that Rep. Edgar San Luis of Laguna, a Kampi member, is not my henchman or underling or whatever. Media stories linking his actions to me are blatant lies and bereft of any basis at all. It is best that media interview or get the real story from Congressman San Luis."
"Finally, whether ill or physically fit, I do not find it worth a second of my time to engage in moves to unseat Speaker De Venecia. My principal advocacy is reforms in the House of Representatives as proven by my recent demand for full disclosure of all House monies by the Committee on Accounts which was unanimously approved by the plenary in session."
