‘Manila Today’ photo contest
The City of Manila under the helm of Mayor Alfredo Lim is the theme of a photo contest launched by Fujifilm/YKL, in collaboration with the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation, Inc.
The contest covers all images of Manila taken starting September 1 until the deadline for submission on October 15, 2007. Participants can shoot people, events, lifestyle, everyday scenes, landmarks, and anything that will speak of the character of historic Manila in the present settings.
It is open to all photographers, professional or amateur. Prizes at stake are: P30,000 (1st prize); P15,000 (2nd prize); P5,000 (3rd prize); enrollment for Photoworld Asia 2008 (4th-10th prizes ).

Cancer Institute Foundation photo auction at Silverlens

As part of the Cancer Institute Foundation’s (CIF) campaign on cervical cancer prevention, a photo auction will be held on Saturday, 6 October, 6pm at Silverlens Gallery in Pasong Tamo Ext., Makati. To be auctioned off are photographs by Jo Avila, Bahaghari, Miguel Fabie III, Ronnie Lazaro, Jun de Leon, Isa Lorenzo, At Maculangan, Billy Mondoñedo, Emmanuel Santos, Ivan Sarenas, John Silva, Pilar Tuason, Wig Tysmans, Lilen Uy, Jake Verzosa, and Denise Weldon, and an etching by National Artist Benedicto Cabrera (BenCab). Proceeds from the sales of the prints shall help support the Cervical Cancer Prevention (CECAP) Program. The Program aims to empower Filipino women with information and knowledge in preventing cervical cancer, and to influence them to take part in the first cervical cancer support group in the country.
Through this auction, CIF wishes to pay tribute to the woman’s courage to face life, and what threatens it, like serious illness, and the manner in which she endures - with a knowledge of her options and a determination to live life to its fullest.
