spacer

A large group of Texas-based Filipino businessmen will visit the Philippines this October with a specific target: to explore investment prospects in the CALABARZON area.

The visit is part of the activities for the 33rd Philippine Business Conference and Expo organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).

The group is composed of the Philippine-American Chamber of Commerce of North Texas, the Filipino American Council of South Texas (FACOST) and the Tagalog Association of Texas.

More than 200 active members of these organizations are confirmed to attend the PCCI-organized conference and expo.

PCCI has facilitated a meeting between the Texas-based business groups, local business groups, and the CALABARZON Regional Development Council to explore investment prospects in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon provinces. These areas are considered prime locations for investments in call centers, business process outsourcing, real property, retirement services, tourism, and wellness services, among others.

The Texas trade delegation is headed by Consul General Mary Jo Bernardo Aragon, Los Angeles, California Philippine Consulate General; and Gus Mercado, chairman and chief executive officer of Datalogix Texas, Inc. They will meet with CALABARZON Regional Development Council Chairman Richard Albert Osmond, Philippine Economic Zone Authority Director General Lilia de Lima, the PCCI and other industry associations and business groups in the country during their visit here.

The Texas trade delegates will also have a dinner engagement with Governor Vilma Santos-Recto of Batangas, Governor Teresita Lazaro of Laguna, Governor Irineo S. Maliksi of Cavite, Governor Casimiro A. Ynares III of Rizal, and Governor Rafael P. Nantes of Quezon.

As part of their activities during their visit, the delegates will sit one-on-one with matched local business individuals for exploratory discussions. They will also visit industrial sites and specific development projects in the CALABARZON to have a first-hand assessment of existing infrastructures in the area.
