Through the years, music has always been a powerful catalyst for social change.
Inspiring hymns have been written to honor and venerate noble kings, triumphant marches have impelled soldiers to set foot in the battlefields, and in more recent times, even pop stars have revealed their heightened social awareness by infusing their songs with a healthy dose of patriotic fervor.
With its power to heal, motivate and inspire, music can do so much to rouse and uplift people’s spirits - eventually binding an entire nation in unity and spiritual harmony.
Admist such seemingly turbulent times, the Filipino’s resilient and indomitable spirit continues to soar; a spirit tempered by brotherhood and compassion. These are the same virtues that seek to be rekindled by an enlightened group of artists eager to share their message of peace and love.
IDream represents the culmination of such a journey. The album presents a compilation of inspiring songs given new life by respected local and international-caliber artists such as Robert Seña, Isay Alvarez, Bituin Escalante, Agot Isidro, Jenine Desiderio, Karylle, Jamie Rivera, Raymund Lauchengco, Luke Mejares, Arthur Manuntag, Carl Balita, and Tony Rebosa.
Sifting through a wide catalog of traditional and modern scores, and under the master arrangements of reputable studio musicians such as Marvin Querido, Ernie Baladjay, Mel Villena and Rhia Osorio, the artists put their own personal stamp on songs such as "If I Can Dream," "Sa Bawat Tagpo Ng Buhay," "Bridge Over Troubled Water," "Imagine," "Nais Ko," "When You Wish Upon A Star," "Somewhere Over The Rainbow," "Only Hope," "Climb Every Mountain," "I Believe I Can Fly," "Angel Brought Me Here," "Corner of the Sky," and "Magsimula Ka."
Isay Alvarez-Seña, the album’s executive producer, shares her latest labor of love with her creative partner and husband Robert Seña and equally-gifted artist friends. Carl Balita, president of Ultimate Creatives, together with Robert and Isay envisioned to compile beautiful songs that will inspire and motivate positive thoughts and feelings among Filipinos. She says, "IDream is an attempt to promote positive music in troubled times when even music and art have been drowned by socio-economic and political noise."
The IDream album launch will be on Nov. 19, at the Crossroad 77 Convenarium (Mother Ignacia Ave. cor. Sct., Q.C., near St. Mary’s College), 4:30 p.m., featuring all the aforementioned artists. The album is now available in major music stores and exclusively distributed by Ivory Records.
