SAMCC’S "Daop-Palad"
Prof. Ma. Rosario Garcia
What fun- we professors, students, formators and non-academic staff- all had at our annual inter-congregational day held last August 26, 2007 at the scenic community house of the Alagad ni Maria in cool Antipolo!
Called "Daop-Palad," the anticipated games turned out to be an extreme Challenge for the four groups identified by their colors. Opening with a cheering contest won by the green team, the events that followed saw the participation of faculty members like Ma’am Tere with the yellow team, Ma’am Au with the red team, Ma’am Venia with the blue team and Ate Charo with the green team.
Fr. Victor and Ate Amy also joined the "rest" team. The games included throwing balls into the basketball hoops, walking the parallel ropes, shipping on one foot holding the foot of the one in front while holding a glass of water to fill the drinking stations! Swimming races capped the afternoon.
Bishop Julio Labayen of Infanta, the Spiritual Father of the Alagad ni Maria, enjoyed watching on the sidelines while Dean Beulah Nuval rooted spiritedly for each team. Alagad priests, Frs. Mark and Mike, together with the Alagad seminarians made sure all had a good time- beginning with a lovely Eucharistic celebration and ending with a prayerful atmosphere. All look forward to next year!
Aside from this annual inter-congregational day, St. Anthony Mary Claret College has several other activities that bring out the multi-talents of the student body like the Development Day towards the end of the school year that incorporates creative activities such as a forum on a specific topic, singing contest and a full length musical play. It also holds contests such as Bible Proclamation Contest, Impromptu-Speaking Contest and a Philosophical Hour. Inside the classes, professors also hold creative endeavors like mini-plays, discussion groups, poetry reading and the like- all contributing to a more holistic learning atmosphere in a Catholic College-Seminary.
