Figaro volunteers trek to the farms to plant coffee trees, the organically-compliant way. Not only is organic Farming beneficial to the health of farmers, it also preserves the health of the soil and ensures sustainability of a bio-diverse environment, friendly to birds and other species of animals who depend on pesticide-free surroundings. Students from UP, La Salle, Ateneo, and UST joined the Figaro Organic Barako Tree Planting in Gen . Aguinaldo, Cavite recently. The pilot demo farm lent by Mayor Danny Bencito of the Cavite town tucked in the inner highland area will be monitored by Cavite State University for the next five years as part of a multi-stakeholder partnership project among the local government, the academe, private sector Figaro Foundation and the Cavite Coffee Growers Cooperative. SISC promotes internationalism
Southville International School and Colleges cooperated with Festival Supermall in staging an Arts and Crafts contest on the occasion of celebrating Children’s Month last October. The event, with the theme "In the Spirit of Internationalism – Healing the World through Cultural Harmony," was held at the activity center of Festival Supermall, Alabang. Students aged five to 12 years old from the different schools in Muntinlupa, Parañaque and Las Piñas were invited to participate in the various activities that were prepared such as: storytelling, interactive games, raffle, mini-concert, and arts & crafts. For the main event, SISC prepared an Arts and Crafts Contest for all the students who registered for the competition. It was divided into two levels, Level A (five to seven years old) and Level B (eight to 12 years old). Ma. Angela Kahanap of International Christian Academy, grand prize winner for the Level A division, impressed the judges with her creative entry in which she exhibited her drawing and painting skills. On the other hand, Level B grand prize winner, Philip Thomas de la Torre of Elizabeth Seton School, amazed the judges with his unique three-dimensional entry that exceptionally illustrates cultural harmony.
