Images of romance seen in movies and in various television series or imagined in dreamy stories from romance novels have captured the emotions of many as they have watched each scene unfold.
One day, the right person comes and they find themselves parts of the moving picture as leading characters of a real dramatic spectacle. This is what happened to Georgia Schulze and Armand Del Rosario as they tied an eternal bond of love at the Calaruega Transfiguration Chapel.
"I was so happy and excited that I was literally counting the minutes until I walked down the aisle the morning of my wedding," Georgia Schulze Del Rosario says as she recounted her anticipation before the wedding.
It was a beautiful Spanish hacienda-themed celebration where everything was presented in pure elegance and grandeur in a setting which was perfect for the concept. Incidentally, the series of this romantic tale also began in a picturesque scene of similar beauty.
Scene 1: A fateful meeting
One afternoon, with the tide so high, Georgia and Armand got to know each other on a cliff by the ocean. The waters beneath them splashed against the rocks as it matched the sweet enthusiasm exuded by the happily laughing couple. Anyone who saw them in that beautiful summer day would know that both would soon be a part of each other.
Destiny must have its own way of revealing its plans as a blissful feeling and a joyful realization came to them that time. "As cheesy as it may sound, I fell in love with Armand that summer day. There was no question in my mind that he was the one for me," Georgia Schulze Del Rosario says.
Four years later, on the same spot where they fell in love, Armand asked Georgia to be his wife. At that moment, their hearts were set to a certain forever. According to Georgia, Armand always has a way of making her feel special and that their love for each other has always been one of the most powerful driving forces in their lives.
As tears of bliss fell down Georgia’s cheeks, she accepted the proposal with an enthusiastic "Yes!" Thus, the road to their wedding day began.
Scene 2: The making of a fantasy
Georgia was in high spirits and began the wedding planning in pure anticipation of one of the biggest days of their lives. "Even if we had a pretty long engagement, I did my research and already started keeping track of ideas and little details that I knew I wanted to include in my special day," she shares.
"Spanish hacienda" was chosen as the over-all theme to reflect the couple’s personalities and love story. It made the wedding even more memorable since Armand and Georgia are big fans of Spanish cuisine and its architecture and both love to dance the salsa. However, even if they found very talented suppliers for the event, choosing the background for the elegant celebration had to be meticulously done to complete the ambiance.
Tagaytay was the wedding destination in mind since it was accessible to Manila, offers a cool climate and was the place which they often visit. The path to finding the perfect venue was not easy since after checking out different places none seemed to fit. However, fate brought Georgia back to memories of her high school retreat where a beautiful chapel sat surrounded by lush greens and nicely trimmed bushes set on a mountainside.
"We went and fell in love with the place instantly. It was even pettier than I remembered and Armand was astounded. It was the perfect size. We wanted something small to add to the intimacy of the event," Georgia Schulze del Rosario says in describing their visit to Calaruega in Nasugbu, Batangas.
The making of the fantasy came closer to reality when they finally decided on the venue of their reception. Their ninong and caterer Ed Quimson, who was the executive chef for The Splendido, a wedding venue by the Taal Lake--suggested the place for their reception. Though both were reluctant at first, they still went to visit the place, then became awed with what they saw. Armand and Georgia were first set on holding a garden reception, but its lovely veranda by the golf course proved to be the perfect setting for their Spanish hacienda wedding theme.
Scene 3: The Wedding
Just as how the sunset spreads a burst of drama into a whole place, blooms in hues of red, peach and yellow were seen all over the wedding venue as they decorated the entire place. Tweaked with a Spanish air, invitations, misalettes and favors were also done in the sunset color motif.
The event was even made more memorable by the participation of their lovely daughter. "We wanted our daughter Nadia to play a special role so she was my little maid of honor. She held the rings for us throughout the ceremony and we both wore the most gorgeous gowns made of lace," Georgia Schulze Del Rosario discloses.
A feast of Spanish food was laid for their beloved guests to partake. An assortment of tapas, paella, salami, cheeses and pizza were served hot and fresh the whole night. Those with a sweet tooth were also satisfied with a variety of desserts which included cheesecake, strawberry shortcake, carrot cake and a tasty Belgian chocolate wedding cake made by Georgia’s mother.
A party full of youth and vibrancy shortly followed where guests were served with white Sangria. They also toasted to Georgia’s favorite wine, Rose.
The wedding of Armand and Georgia was a day of moving pictures which will forever be recorded in the minds of the couple, their families, friends and all who were present. The couple took on lead roles in a real life romantic drama where they would forever be spending the rest of their lives together.
"The day was all that I dreamed of and more. It truly was the perfect beginning to the rest of our lives together," Georgia Schulze Del Rosario concludes.
