BONTOC, Mountain Province — The flagship projects of President Arroyo in Cordillera are now 80 percent complete and will be finished before 2010 which is the target date of the completion of all infrastructure components of the President’s public works program announced during her state-of-the-nation address (SoNA).
This was reported by Engineer Mariano Alquiza, director of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the Cordillera, who also said that the average accomplishment rating of all the SoNA projects is over 80 percent.
This shows that the project implementors have met the schedules of work given to them by the DPWH.
In the phase II of the Halsema highway rehabilitation for which P340 million was released last year, three of the 24 projects are already completed, and the rest are ongoing with an average accomplishment of at least 65 percent.
Phase III of the Halsema rehabilitation work which was provided with P188 million to fund 12 packages is about 75 percent complete, he said.
Alquiza said that the rehabilitation of the Bontoc-Tinglayan section of the Bontoc-Tabuk-Tuguegarao Road which was given an allocation of P112 million is now over 90 percent complete, while the Tinglayan-Tabuk portion for which P229 million was allotted is now over 95 percent complete.
For this year, The DPWH has adopted a policy of multi-year bidding of all SONA projects of the President to ensure continuity of work and prevent inconveniences to the motoring public.
