You still have a whole month to visit the ongoing agricultural festival at the Paradizoo, a diversified theme farm in Mendez, Cavite, featuring unusual farm animals, flowers, vegetables, fruits and other attractions.
The festival actually started last February 16 and will run through March 30. If one is interested in exotic animals, there are fenced areas for a fun mix of dromedary camels which have only one hump. Then there are the latest breeds of goats, including the white Saanen from Australia which are famous for their high yield of milk. The other goats which are primarily for meat are the Boer and the Kalahari breeds. Paradizoo actually sells, trades and breeds these animals with local goats. Also included are forage crops from abroad which go with the package.
There are are also miniature horses, fallow and russa deer, alpacas and llamas which are rarely seen in the Philippines. There are also ostriches, guinea fowls and other exotic poultry breeds.
Visitors, especially the children will enjoy feeding the animals at the Petting Zoo. The camels are very tame and are being trained so that children or even adults can ride them like the miniature horses.
The visitors may also catch sight of baby owls which Manager Vito Logan says were donated by a farmer. It is interesting to note that the farm has become even instrumental in creating awareness for the protection of wildlife among the farming communities in the area.
For the lover of plants and flowers, there are the bromeliad and orchid pavilions which are close to each other. The pavilions are events-oriented, as they can house up to 150 people for picnics and family outings, weddings, birthday celebrations and other important occasions.
