Solicitor General Agnes Devanadera yesterday named the 17 legal divisions of the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) in a division dedication ceremony, coinciding with her first anniversary as the first woman solicitor general in the OSG’s 107 years of existence.
The legal divisions were named after former solicitors general and attorneys general to honor those who once headed the OSG, the office that represents the government in court cases.
"The legal divisions were named after former Solicitors General and Attorneys General to foster appreciation of the rich history of the OSG and honor the great men who headed it," Devanadera said.
The legal divisions were named after Solicitors General Ricardo P. Galvez (Division I), Lorenzo M. Tañada (Division II), Sedfrey A. Ordoñez (Division III), Cezar C. Bengzon (Division IV), Felix V. Makasiar (Division V), Gregorio S. Araneta (Division VI), Alexander A. Reyes (Division VIII), Ramon Ozaeta (Division IX), Pompeyo Diaz (Division XII), Manuel Lim (Division XIII), Querube C. Makalintal (Division XVI), and Felix Q. Antonio (Division XVII); and a Attorneys General Quintin S. Pardes (Division VII), Antonio O. Villareal (Division X), lgnacio B. Villamor (Division XI), Felicisimo R. Feria (Division XIV), and Ramon Q. Avanceña (Division XV).
Markers bearing the names of the former solicitors general and attorneys general were installed while an exhibit featuring the biographies of the former heads were put up in the OSG building lobby in Makati City.
