LTO stops creation of license renewal centers
spacer

JC Bello Ruiz

Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief Alberto Suansing has declared a moratorium on the creation of Driver’s License Renewal Centers (DLRCs).

A DLRC which is normally situated in a shopping mall, could process renewal of driver’s licenses within 20 to 30 minutes, according to the LTO.

Suansing declared a moratorium so the agency could study if the creation of DLRCs is really feasible for the LTO as well as for its investors.

As of last year, there were 20 DLRCs in operation in the country. Previous LTO administrations claimed the creation of DLRCs is meant to bring the agency’s services closer to the public.
