Bangui Windmills by Dr. Jose B. Orosa III | | Doc June writes that only recently has he realized his passion for photography. "I discovered that seeing the beauty of things behind the camera lens and recording it gives additional joy to an already warm fulfilled heart of a surgeon," he shares. He adds further how privileged he feels "to share in the miracles of life with my hands, as a surgeon, and eyes as a photographer." Today, Doc June shows us various images from his home province.
Our second contributor, Kurt Tan, is also a doctor. Doc Kurt, who relishes shooting on short adventure trips, has already been featured in this column before. But it looks like our good pediatrician has recently been too busy at work to go on an escapade. However, that has not stopped our intrepid photographer from shooting even with just his cell phone camera and sharing what the doctors have been up to lately. See more of Kurt’s images at http://kurt123.multiply.com.

Aklanon Roy G. Escalona writes that he has been reading and collecting "the informative and exciting articles" of Picture Perfect for more than a year now. "The humble stories of featured photographers always inspire and motivate me to improve and strive to also become a good photographer," he says. Roy, an environmentalist by profession, says that photography has become his hobby for more than a year now. Drawn to nature and travel photography, it is Roy’s goal to promote Philippine tourism and environmental protection. He also shares that he dreams of one day becoming a professional in the craft.

Aiza Mavizha-zha M. Llave says that she was prompted by friend and regular contributor Rosemarie Caasi to email our column. This reluctant photographer shares that it was her photojournalism class that had her hold a camera for the very first time. Since then, she has had a "love-hate relationship with this (at times) heartbreaking stuff." However, she also reveals that "whenever I capture shots which seem to have entrapped emotions, I feel overjoyed and wanna go on." Aiza sent in only one photo, Tatsulok, which is a TV image reflected on the glass table. "This ‘Tatsulok’ reminds me of Bamboo’s hit especially with its lyrics: Totoy kumilos ka, baliktarin ang tatsulok," she says.

Announcements: For those into wildlife photography, you are invited to see my nephew Jay Paredes’s blog http://www.beautyofthewild.com/blog/. Jay lives in Florida and like his father Jake (already featured twice in this column) has garnered awards for his nature photography.
I would also like to reiterate a call to all adventurous photographers to join the World Pinhole Photography Day activities on April 27, 2008 by taking a pinhole photograph on that day. The image may be uploaded to the WPPD site (www.pinholeday.org) for the entire world to view. Last year, 2943 participants from 69 countries contributed images to the WPPD 2007 Gallery.
Finally, visit www.nseries.com/soulofthenight and see the images taken with the new Nokia N82’s cell phone camera (5mp with Xenon flash). Your columnist was chosen as one of the phone’s ambassadors.
