KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) — Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim hailed "a new dawn for Malaysia" Sunday after stunning election results that cemented his political comeback after being sacked and jailed a decade ago.
Leaders of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) who comprise the party’s national directorate will meet today new officers in a bid to finally resolve leadership issues and create a special committee that will meet and negotiate with the leaders of Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi) to discuss the planned merger of the two parties.
In a meeting to be held at the historic landmark Manila Hotel, the nearly 300 members of the expanded Lakas-CMD National Directorate will also decide the party’s preparations for the 2010 national elections.
