Beauty Enhancements
(How technology plays a major role) part 3

Jaye C. Bautista

Greetings from Vanity Land!

Talk about not being too feminine but I have to admit, I may look real "femme" and every inch a lady (di ba Art, Badong & Carlo? No resistance please, hehehe) but I am not your typical girly girl who dabbles in makeup, trips to the beauty parlor to have her hair, face, hand and feet cleaned, pampered and treated. I’m more of a "wash and wear" kinda girl. I don’t have any daily or nightly rituals for my face or skin. When I get home from work, a quick shower before I go to bed (no matter how late that may be), a dab of baby cologne (Para mi Bebe, 23 or Victoria Secret fruity splash) just about does it for me. I don’t even get enough sleep. Four hours max, just about cuts it. But somehow, nature’s been kind, the "wear and tear" of time and stress (hahaha talk about having a toxic work life) hardly shows according to friends (or are you guys just patronizing me?). Thank God!

"The price we have to pay for Vanity"…. True. True. Nowadays, vanity does have a price tag but then again it seems to pay off! Look around you. The celebrities are living proof of the "beauty of technology and of course all others who could afford these techno beauty treats. It’s open to anyone willing to shell out the bucks! It’s every where, in fact, Ruffa (G. - I work with her, she’s also a friend and a beloved sister-in-the-faith) and I were in L.A. last year, having latte in (ahem!) a Beverly Hills Café while she met with old friends, then at one point my eyes wandered and I noticed that MOST everyone around the room looked liked a mannequin! Women of all ages and sizes, tanned to the hilt, women looking like they could never crack a laugh-line or wrinkle with their be-BOTOXED faces, their 00 new "bumpers" jutting out as perky as an 18-yr-old’s or someone who just reached adolescence, their upturned noses, cleft chins and 6-pack abs. It was surreal! It looked like a scene from the series, "Nip and Tuck!"

Technology has made it possible for things lost to be restored (failing vision thru laser may now be corrected), hair loss (surgery or implanting hair may be done) and pale skin is no longer an excuse as one may also get a "Boracay or French Riviera or Bahamas" tan in a matter of minutes (tanning beds, sprays, makeup). But what is interesting to me is a procedure that claims to do wonders for any woman who’s given birth, been married for years, seen her days, etc. It’s a thing called, Vaginoplasty. This is the rejuvenation or tightening of woman’s private part (vagina). It is a female genital surgical procedure to tighten vaginal muscles. For women who’ve experienced multiple childbirths, vaginal muscles tend to experience enlargement due to stressful expansion during the delivery. The result can often be loose, weak, vaginal muscles. Even after exercise, the condition of the vaginal muscles may not improve. Many women find that while the experience of childbirth may be the most rewarding of their lives, sometimes the after effects for both their sexual partner and themselves is not as satisfying as it once was.

Vaginoplasty, sometimes referred to as rejuvenation of the vagina, is a procedure that can usually correct the problem of stretched vaginal muscles resulting from childbirth(s), and is a direct means of enhancing one’s sexual life once again. The procedure typically tones vaginal muscle, resulting in greater contraction strength and control, thereby permitting greater sensation during sexual experiences. Generally, anyone in average physical condition or good health can be a candidate for vaginoplasty surgery. In other words, after such a procedure, the "new woman" may rightfully sing to the tune of "Like a Virgin." And so, how goes your weekend?
