TACLOBAN CITY — Global warming issues will be taken up during the Provincial Board Members League of the Philippines (PBMLP) "17th National Convention" that will be conducted March 26-28, at the Waterfront Hotel in Lahug, Cebu City.
PBLMP President Pearl Angeli Pacada, senior board member of Tarlac’s first district and first woman president of the prestigious league, will lead the holding of the two-day summit.
Pacada will be assisted by Jaime Jasper Lim, PBLMP secretary-general.
PBMLP public information officer Enerio M. Sabulao, board member of the province of Eastern Samar, said this year’s convention carries the theme: PBMLP 101 "1 team, One goal, 1 direction."
President Arroyo will be the keynote speaker of the summit Day 1 and National Defense Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro will also be the guest speaker on the Day 2 of the gathering.
Ronaldo M. Acosta, director of Department of Interior and Local Government, will be the resource speaker on Global Warming, which will be taken up on March 27, and this will be followed right after by a film showing—presentation of Global Warming by former United States Vice President Al Gore.
Top government officials also to grace the two-day affair are Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, who will welcome the delegation to Cebu, DILG Secretary Ronaldo Puno, and Senator Pia Cayetano.
PBMLP delegates from Luzon will be presented by Jonah Pedro Pimentel, the Visayas delegation by Victor Maambong, and the Mindanao delegates by Bal Nariman Ambolodto.
Pacada, who is also president of the Girl Scouts Council in Tarlac, and a known leader of the women sector in her native province, is expected to also take up with other women officials present, like Cebu governor Garcia and Sen. Pia Cayetano, the emerging issues regarding human trafficking that victimizes women and children in the Visayas.
