Relatives search for tanker crewmen thrown overboard

TACLOBAN CITY — Relatives started searching for their missing family member who survived an attempted murder by shipmates about a week ago who had allegedly threw him, and two others, overboard.

The survivor, Ging Clavo, 32, who is from Quezon City, was a mess man of the tanker. He was able to contact relatives with the use of a cellular phone provided by a family which had rescued him.

His mother, Carmelita Clavo, wasted no time as she took the first flight from Manila to this city to look for his missing son.

The victim was allegedly mauled and thrown overboard from an oil tanker by his shipmates.

He is now seeking the help of media to help him return home.

Ging said his two companios were also mauled by shipmates, and thrown overboard five days ago.

He said he survived by swimming for five straight days, but he had lost track of his two companions.

Ging had reportedly managed to give locations of his whereabouts. He was heard to be staying in a certain village known as Bagong Barrio, hehas not mentioned the province.
