SANTA, Ilocos Sur — A mechanic of a bus company was killed last Thursday when he was hit by a motorcycle at a sharp curve on the national highway at Sitio Pidig, Barangay Magsaysay, this town.
The victim, who was repairing a wrecker parked on the side of the highway, was hit by the speeding motorcycle which evaded a tricycle, police said.
PO3 Michael Criste, duty investigator of the Santa police station, identified the victim as Leonary Guillermo Cimatu, 49, mechanic of Maria de Leon Bus Line, of Barangay 1, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.
Cimatu died while he was being treated in Gabriela Silang General Hospital. He suffered head injuries and internal bleeding.
Criste identified the driver of the motorcycle as Wilmer Disuno, 26, of Barangay Dalit, Pilar, Abra.
Investigation showed that the accident occurred at about 9:30 in the morning.
Disuno also suffered injuries in the head, feet and body and was confined in the hospital.
