PIDDIG, Ilocos Norte – Piddigueños International (PI), which is composed of natives of this farming town who now reside in Metro Manila, other parts of the country, and abroad, will conduct a medical-dental mission here on May 14.
PI’s outreach program will be one of the activities for the five-day celebration of the town fiesta which will start on May 11.
Earlier, Mayor Generoso Aquino Jr. had invited PI members to participate in the celebration of the feast of San Isidro Labrador, this town’s patron saint.
Eddie I. Estavillo, PI president, said the medical-dental mission will be held in the morning of May 14 at the town’s Gaki Theater. He said the outreach project is intended to help poor Piddigueños who cannot afford to shoulder the fee for doctor’s consultation.
Volunteer doctors will conduct the free clinic during which minor illnesses will be treated.
He said that free over-the-counter medicines will be distributed during the medical mission. Well-to-do Piddigueños, who reside in Metro Manila, contributed funds for the purchase of medicines. They include Matilde Chua, Nancy Madamba, and Customs Intelligence Officer IV Eric Albano.
Other PI members wiil also solicit medicines from drug companies.
PI members who are in charge of the preparations for the medical mission include Melen Baltazar of PCSO, Vicky Silvano, Amy Pimentel-Valentin, Vicky Foronda, Delilah Martin, and Minda Acleta. National coordinator is Willy Pingol.
In the evening of May 14, PI officers and members will participate in a cultural program.
