CALUMPIT,Bulacan — Former Bulacan Governor Roberto Pagdanganan asked Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno and Philippine National Police Director-General Avelino Razon to revamp Bulacan police, alleging coverup in the investigation of the killing of his brother, former Calumpit Mayor Monching Pagdanganan.

This developed after policemen of Bocaue, Bulacan killed Wednesday night two men who were tagged as suspects in the killing of the former mayor who was gunned down by two motorcycle-riding men while attending a barangay fiesta celebration last Sunday night in this town.

"I don’t believe that the two suspects they killed in a shootout are the ones who killed my brother," the former governor said.

He was referring to slain suspects identified as Jerry Velasco and a certain "Jocel" who were allegedly killed in a shootout with policemen Wednesday night in Barangay Batya, Bocaue.

Police said that the suspects were positively identified by Myra Alfonso and Marcelo Datuin as the men who shot and killed former Mayor Pagdanganan.

Alfonso and Datuin , police said, were witnesses in the Pagdanganan slay case and had provided descriptions of the killers that served as basis for the police’s artist sketches of the killers.

However, the two witnesses expressed suprise when the police released the full sketches, recalling that they only described the suspects’ collar, baseball cap, and motorcycle.

The former governor said the Bulacan Police Office and Calumpit Police Office are involved in the coverup.

"First, they speculated that the NPA killed my brother, then they mentioned "love triangle," and now they say that robbers are the killers," Pagdanganan said.
