Hailed as a tour de force in Philippine cinema, "Pi7ong Tagpo" not only highlights the movie’s brilliant technical elements, but also presents a noteworthy anthology of stories depicting Filipino values.
The experimental film, scheduled for its first public screening at the Robinson’s Galleria’s indieSine from May 14-20, 2008, showcases a vignette of seven lives, seven realities, seven struggles and seven decisions, with each episode done in one long take – with no cuts at all.
Clocking an average of 15-20 minutes, the segments marked an unprecedented achievement in local cinema, and posed a serious challenge to both the technical crew and actors involved. This makes the movie a must-see for indie buffs, film students/instructors and life observers in general.
"Suka" is with emotional vampires of the past; "Star City" delves into the complexities of a May-December affair; "Ninoy" chronicles the uncanny bond between a young man and a street kid brought up in the school of hard knocks; "Mariel" is about a single mom’s reawakening by the simplicity of a child’s faith; and "Toga" deals with an OFW father trying to make amends with his graduating daughter.
Produced by Creative Futures Inc., "Pi7ong Tagpo" was written and directed by Rahyan Carlos, and stars Diether Ocampo, Cherry Pie Picache, Bembol Roco, Karylle, LJ Reyes, Vaness del Moral, Sheena Halili, Vangie Labalan, Robert Seña, Isay Alvarez-Seña, Jake Macapagal, Krystal Reyes, Steven Fermo and Coco Martin.
