Click Five would not forget the famous Filipino hospitality the first time they came in Manila For their upcoming concert, the pop rock at feels this is the best time to return the favor.
The group assures their fan base that their May 30 concert at the Big Dome will be a night to remember. "I had so much fun in Manila. The audience was warm and welcoming," the band’s drummer Joey Zehr told the Manila Bulletin, referring to the series of Manila mall shows they did last October.
Joey promised: "It’s gonna be an awesome night come our concert. We’re gonna go rockin’ all night. They can expect the old materials and as well as the new ones."
"Modern Minds and Great Times: Click Five Live in Manila" will have the group singing their signature hits "Catch Your Wave," "Just the Girl," "Jenny," "Happy Birthday" and the latest single "Empty."
"We’re just five guys who always want to be musicians. We want to create and share our music," Joey shared. He and vocalist Kyle Patrick will be the birthday boys and center of attraction for local fans as a special event called "Click Five Happy Birthday Party" takes place at Glorietta Park, Makati on May 20, at 2pm.
Via announcement, five lucky fans who send birthday cards for Kyle and Joey would be given free VIP tickets to the major concert, plus a chance to meet the band backstage)
Completing the band’s line-up are Joe Guese (lead guitar, vocals), Ethan Mentzer (bass, vocals) and Ben Romans (keyboards, vocals), with former vocalist Eric Dill serving as official member from 2003 to 2006.
Joey revealed they had to part ways with the group’s former lead singe because the rest of the members wanted a different direction.
As for Kyle who, they said, underwent a friendly and not the "Idol" type kind of audition, the drummer boy describes their hot pick as possessing "great attitude and who has raised the bar for the band and a really great guy."
The group’s pocket promo tour here last year was considered a landslide success, with more than 3,000 singing and screaming fans attending each venue.
Their latest album "Modern Minds and Pastimes," released in June 2007, is being hailed as a pop rock masterpiece as showcased by its lead single "Jenny" which was locally an instant hit. Last year, this song had been number 1 for nine consecutive weeks in 99.5 Hit FM while its music video was on top of MYX International Videos Chart for 8 consecutive weeks.
Joey was thrilled to mention that their inspiration Beatles is the ‘greatest rock and roll band whose personality inspired them that much.’
Members of Click Five who released their debut album "Greetings from Imrie House" in August 2005 have attended the Berklee College of Music and studied audio engineering. Imrie house is a place they rented in Boston located along a road of the same name.
When asked if school-trained musicians are boxed and not free-spirited, Joey explained, "For as long as you’re creative enough not to hold back as musician, I don’t think you would be boxed."
