Lady Tamaraws cop win no.7
spacer

Far Easten University extended its unbeaten record to seven games by trampling over College of Saint Benilde, 46-40, Friday in the women’s side of the Nike Summer League basketball tournament at the FEU gym in Morayta.

But while the Lady Tams are celebrating their seventh straight victory, their junior counterpart were weeping as Baby Tamaraws bowed to Letran, 79-82, later in the day.

Glen Khobuntin scored 22 points and had 15 rebounds while Kevin Alas added 20 points as the Squires handed the Baby Tamaraws their first loss in Group D.

Letran and FEU are now tied in Group D with 3-1 (win-loss) record, just half a game behind idle San Beda-Alabang (4-1).

So far, only De La Salle-Greenhills is assured of advancing in the quarterfinals.

In the seniors division, Lyceum, San Beda, FEU and Ateneo — all undefeated teams — are already booked to play in the quarters.

Lyceum and San Beda sealed the top two spots in Group B, while FEU and Ateneo are on top of Groups C and D, respectively.

ABS-CBN Sports will feature weekly highlights of the Nike Summer League beginning May 17 on Studio 23 and cover the live games starting June 5 when the tournament moves up to the quarterfinals. Schedules, results and stats are available on www.nike.com.ph
