Siblings Bernardine and Sallymae Siso hacked out upset victories yesterday in the First Gen-Juntaphil Metro Age Group Tennis Championships at the Olivarez Sports Complex in Parañaque City.
Bernardine, unseeded in the boys’ 16 years and under, survived the big plays of second seed Pemrik Alina to hack out a 6-3, 6-7 (6), 6-3 win for a semifinals berth.
Sally Mae, for her part, thumped top seed Shannin Olivarez, 7-5, 6-2, in the girls’ 14-under to move a win away from the crown.
As if it was not enough, the younger Siso caught Olivarez flat-footed once again and breezed past the 16-under top seed, 3-6, 6-7 (3), 6-0, to line herself up for another double championship.
Bernardine goes up against third seed Jason Patrombon, a 6-0, 6-1 winner over eighth pick Tim Polero, in the semifinals.
