More exciting action and a much-improved format mark the return of the Philippine Touring Car Championship (PTCC) and Slipstream TV which was launched recently at the Guilly’s Island Bar and Restaurant in Tomas Morato.
The 2008 PTCC season promises to be more spectacular with the governing Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) taking a more active role as the organizer and a bigger field of topnotch drivers competing in the event sponsored by SEA Oil, Federal Tires, JVC, Motolite and TNT.
Slipstream TV, tagged as the "Home of Real Racing" is also back for its seventh season with more entertaining segments and new hosts Dominic Uy and the gorgeous UNO cover girl Maike Evers every Sunday, 12 to 12:30 p.m. on Studio 23.
The show is considered the country’s longest-running motoring sports show now being on its 17th year of existence. The first 13 years of the show was under the auspices of respected veteran racing champ Pocholo Ramirez.
The show, produced by Race Fans Inc., will not only feature the PTCC races but also the World Touring Car Championship, the World Rally Championship and the Team Nitro-Bridgestone Autocross Series organized by Willy Dandan who has been tapped as the new marketing director to revitalize the promotion and television coverage of both the PTCC and Slipstream TV.
Among the exciting Slipstream TV segments to watch are Autocross 101 where aspiring Autocross drivers can learn the basics of the sport; the Check Engine which gives motorists some tips on trouble-shooting car problems; event coverages of motoring shows and races; Pitstop – a segment that will keep viewers well-informed on the latest motorsports; and Rad Ride that showcases vintage and new car models and the latest car technologies.
The launching was graced by AAP officials, led by PTCC race director Jun Espino, racing fans and competing PTCC drivers who also displayed their actual racing cars at the Guilly’s Island parking lot.
