A Youtube showdown

Dance like there’s no tomorrow.
If kids today want to prove themselves, they no longer take it to the streets. Gone are the days of fistfights or drag racing Grease style. They’re taking it online. And they’re pretty damn serious about it. Why settle for having just your tiny group of friends watching when you can let in the whole world take a peek at all the action, too?
It all started when the director of Step Up 2: The Streets, Jon Chu and one of the actors in the movie, Adam Sevani, challenged Disney sensation Miley Cyrus (aka Hannah Montana) and Mandy Jiroux to what they say is "the biggest online dance battle in YouTube history." And just like a Rambo fight scene, this video blog challenge didn’t have any rules. It was a "dance any where and any way you want" sort of deal.
The online battle begins
For creative purposes, Jon and Adam named their team ACDC (Adam/Chu Dance Crew) and released their first Youtube video that showed them break dancing, spinning around, and totally busting a groove along with their very flexible friends.

Team M&M (Miley and Mandy) responded with a dance routine to the Madonna and Justin Timberlake’s, "4 Minutes". In 24 hours their video gets over a million hits showing that the Spice Girls aren’t the only ones with girl power. It becomes an instant YouTube classic and gets posted on Perezhilton, Access Hollywood, Yahoo News, and also gets featured in the hit talk show, Ellen. It also did the girls good when they recruited two of the actors from the first Step Up movie, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan to help them spice up their dance routine.

Not wanting to be beaten, ACDC released a teaser for their response to the M&M video in Jon Chu’s ChuPictures Youtube page. Fans of the "epic dance battle" made such a big frenzy that the views in Chu’s page tripled in just twenty minutes causing the page to go berserk for an hour. Unfrazzled, fans continue with the frenzy over the ACDC teaser. When ACDC’s dance video was finally released in Youtube, fans were in awe with the amount of stardust they used. Dancing along with them in the Youtube video were the likes of Adam Sandler, Lindsay Lohan Chris Brown, and Diana Ross (yes, that Dreamgirl) and other celebrities such as Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew winners Jabbawokeez, Robert Hoffman of Step Up 2: The Streets, Adam Shankman, director and choreographer of Hairspray, Hairspray stars Elijah Kelley, Brittany Snow and Amanda Bynes, and So You Think You Can Dance contestants Lacey Schwimmer and Hokuto Konishi.

After that jaw dropping and phenomenal performance, there still isn’t any sign of Team M&M waving that white flag. Who knows, they might be busy recruiting even bigger stars for their next Youtube dance video!
