Beauty and the Gadgets (part 2)

Jaye C. Bautista

Contrary to common contention, there are as techie women as there are men who also have bouts with the vanity blues.

So it is vice versa. There are metrosexuals as there are techie women who don’t mind having a gadget or two in their purse or household (or men with press powder or gloss in their coat pockets?).

We now continue with the remaining gadgets on the list.

Blu Ray Collection

Over at Sephora.com, the makeup and beauty site, cosmetics manufacturer Cargo is selling a new line of cosmetics: The Blu Ray Collection, which is especially created for use with hi-def film. According to the website, these products have been "developed in response to the needs of makeup artists shooting in high definition, these specialized products work for high-def and are ideal for perfecting the skin while still giving a natural look." The set they are selling includes a High Definition Mattifier, Pressed Powder, Blush/Highlighter, Mascara and Gloss. Here’s the list of active ingredients from Sephora.com:

The Pimple-Zapping Zeno is a fabulous little gadget that treats blemishes by applying direct heat to each pimple. The maker of this product, Tyrell, claims that it can rid your face of pimples in just hours with two or three treatments of two and a half minutes each over a 24-hour period.

Now we come to something that is totally geeky but rather cute.

These "Beauty and the Geek" keyboard trousers are a concept interface from designer Erik De Nijs. As you can see, it is made for those who like to compute by putting their laptop so far down on their lap that it is practically at their feet. Maybe it’s also designed to prevent that uncomfortable feeling you get when your laptop has been on your lap for too long. I’m not certain if this syncs to your laptop wirelessly, or if there is some unseen USB wire. These pants have speakers built into the knees, and a pocket in the back for storing the mouse. I have even heard that there is a joystick controller behind the zipper, hahaha.

There isn’t a gadget or electronics fanatic out there that isn’t giddy the first time they use their electronic gizmos. I always am. The fact is we femmes also gush at the latest cellphones, cars, sports gear, exercise, and hot travel spots just like men do. Perhaps the only difference is that we watch out for the stuff that spiffs us up and gives us a boost in the vanity department. Enjoy…
