Japanese loses 50,000 yen to pickpocket

A Japanese lost some 50,000 yen and several cards to a pickpocket while at a shopping center in San Juan the other day, police said.

The lost Japanese yen is equivalent to 21,690.40 in Philippine currency.

Eiichi Maki, 71, of 14-5-A Pearl Street, Hensonville, Angeles City, Pampanga lodged a complaint before the San Juan City Police Station.

PO3 Ryan Farinas, case investigator, reported the incident happened at around 5:30 p.m. inside the Green Hills Shopping Center in San Juan.

Before the incident was discovered, the complainant’s daughter noticed that the front pocket of her father’s bag was open.

When they checked it, they found out that the complainant’s black wallet containing the said cash, two credit cards and a hospital card were already missing.

They immediately sought out the help of the security office of the establishment which then immediately made a search.  (Rizal S. Obanil)
