Gender Equality In Gov’t Assured
Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro – A more gender-responsive governance that gives equal rights for both men and women is now being implemented by the provincial government.
Gov. Alfonso V. Umali, Jr. signed a special order organizing the Provincial Gender Focal Point System (P-GFPS) for the implementation of Magna Carta of Women in Oriental Mindoro.
P-GFPS will spearhead the advocacy, planning, monitoring and evaluation act as the technical advisory group for the implementation/mainstreaming of the government’s Gender and Development (GAD) in projects, programs and other activities in the province.
Umali and Vice Gov. Humerlito A. Dolor co-chairs P-GFPS while Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Teresita A. Umbao is the vice chair.
GAD Planning and Budgeting committee to be headed by Oriental Mindoro Provincial Hospital Special Assistant for Social Services Doris B. Melgar.will focus on gender gaps and other issues. (Joel C. Magsino)
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The Provincial Health Office in Pangasinan advised the public to take necessary precautions against six common diseases during summer.
Dr. Anna Maria Teresa de Guzman , Provincial Health Officer, said the six common diseases during warm season include cough and cold, sore eyes, diarrhea, sun burn, skin disease and dog bite.
De Guzman said cough and cold are still common during summer because of the erratic change of weather condition affecting the health status of the body, and can even trigger asthma, influenza and even allergy. (Liezle Basa Inigo)
