Butuan (PNA) — The officers and members of the Kapisanan Ng Mga Brodkaster Ng Pilipinas (KBP) Butuan City Chapter held their “Urban Greening” activity Saturday. The program started with a “hataw” at the city’s Guingona Park before proceeding to Barangay Masao for the tree-planting activity. The activity partnered with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Philippine National Police, Department of the Interior and Local Government and LGU-Butuan City. Israel Palero, station manager of dxMB-Love Radio FM and Butuan City KBP President said the activity is conducted simultaneously by the KBP chapters nationwide. He added that the activity is part of KBP’s Broadcastreeing program.
Cotabato City (PNA) — Officials of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) are cooperating with leaders of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) on how to jointly address the issues besetting MNLF. The issues are related to the 1996 peace agreement between them and the government, ARMM officials announced Saturday. Marlon Dedumo, supervising chief of the Office of Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) press bureau in Mindanao, said OPAPP is supporting the joint ARMM-MNLF peace and development efforts.
Cotabato City (PNA) — Central Mindanao region’s tourism office and other tourism stakeholders from the region supported the Philippine Travel Mart at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City on Sept. 6-8, officials said Saturday. Nelly Dillera, Department of Tourism 12 Regional Director, said Region 12 is represented by seven institutions selling discounted tour packages, hotel rooms, restaurant function rooms, and tourism products. Region 12 or Central Mindanao, also known as Soccsksargen, is composed of North and South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani and the cities of Cotabato, Koronadal, Tacurong, Kidapawan and General Santos.
Tagum City, Davao del Norte — Seeing the need to safeguard and conserve the coastal and marine resources of Tagum, the local government here has initiated a move to strengthen its local marine protection group dubbed as ‘Bantay Dagat’ forces. Mayor Allan Rellon said the local leadership has seen the necessity to intensify the program on artificial coral reefs planted in the seabed in Liboganon area of the Davao Gulf. This, Rellon added, will allow the marine resources to flourish in the area and ensure agri-fishery food security. (Alexander Lopez)
Panabo City — Barangay Information Development Team (BIDT) Batch Agila, composed of 28 members was trained on natural farming for growth and development in Barangay Cagangohan, this city. The three-day training conducted by Green Leaf Natural Farm Products Producers (GLNFPP) team enabled them to produce foliar as fertilizer, fermented fruit juice as potash which nourish plants and animals and are safe for human consumption, fermented plant juice as urea to enhance plant growth and make plants resist pests and diseases, indigenous microorganism to remove bad odor, fish amino acid to repel insects and protect them from harboring plants and oriental herbal nutrient (which serve as fungicide and pesticide.
