Mr. C, SEJA to hold bigger Tareptepan Arts and Music Festival in 2015
About three weeks ago, former Senator Edgardo J. Angara and Maestro Ryan Cayabyab joined hands to pay tribute to the true artisans of Baler allowing for artistic exchange between them and other artists from all over the country through the highly-successful Tareptepan Arts and Music Festival.
Both Sen. Angara and Mr. C, as the Maestro is fondly called, vowed to make it a more progressive and encompassing annual event.
The vibrant senator has this to say about the festival, “Tareptepan 2014 was a phenomenally successful event attracting hundreds of youth that we can’t wait to do it again.”
Mr. C is proud of what they have achieved in the festival given the limited time and resources they had to work with. “We promise to do this again, hopefully bigger next time,” they said.
Mr. C brought with him people he knew from his various endeavors to conduct workshops during the festival. They included Ebe Dancel and Aia de Leon (formerly of Imago); several songwriters and finalists from this year’s Philpop competition; the Ryan Cayabyab singers; and even Emmy Cayabyab.
The festival was held on the weekend of June 28 to 29 in Baler, Aurora. Its name was culled from the local word “tareptep,” which means ripples. The vision is for local Baler artists to create ripples across the nation and the world through their art.
A paper cut art and visual arts workshop was facilitated by Sinag de Leon while painting workshops were headlined by the Dimadimalangat Artists. A food fair and exhibit formed part of the overall program.
Each night was capped by a cultural presentation and a concert featuring artists from Baler and Manila, like, Blue Island, Naomi Aoki, June Marieezy, Himig Malaya, Indio I, Lawiswis Kawayan, Blackmoon, Cosmic Love, Flippin’ Soul Stompers and Sinosikat. Overall stage production was by Curve Entertainment.
Tareptepan Music and Arts Festival was sponsored by Metrobank Foundation, San Miguel Corporation, Liwayway Marketing Corporation, Oishi and secondary sponsors: Smart Infinity, Coca-Cola FEMSA, Boysen Paints, Costa Pacifica Resort, Genesis Transport Services, Zest-O, Sonia Trading and Philippine Art Awards.
