Nancy Binay says Abby won’t run in 2016
Senator Nancy Binay said that her sister, Makati City 2nd district Rep. Mar-Len Abigail “Abby” Binay, will not be included in her father’s senatorial slate in the 2016 elections.
“Parang hindi siya kasama [I don’t think she is included],” Binay told reporters.
Vice President Jejomar Binay, who has publicly revealed his ambition to be president, recently recruited boxing champion and Sarangani Rep. Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao to be part of his senatorial slate for 2016.
Rep. Binay may choose to go on a political sabbatical instead, the neophyte senator said.
“Parang gusto niya ata mag-concentrate as a mother. Magpapalit kami ng role [I think she wants to concentrate as a mother. We will switch roles],” Senator Binay said.
“Parang pahinga. Parang yun yung naririnig ko, gusto niyang mag-concentrate sa pag-aalaga ng anak niya [Like it's time to rest. That’s what I heard, she wants to concentrate on taking care of her children].”
Nancy placed fifth in the senatorial race during the 2013 polls. Should Abby decide to run and win in 2016, this would place the two Binay sisters together in the Senate for at least three years.
Asked if incumbent Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay Jr. was being recruited for her father’s senate slate, Senator Binay said her 36-year-old younger brother still “has one more term left.”
