LUCKY BACHELOR CLAIMS P98.6M

A 66-year-old bachelor from Cavite has joined the unofficial ‘Instant Millionaires’ Club” of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) after claiming the P98.6-million jackpot for the Super Lotto 6/49 draw of May 22.  One of his three bets for the draw matched the winning numbers combination of 31-35-04-06-30-03, the PCSO said.  He claimed his winnings on May 26.   (Edd K Usman)

ANGELINA AT GLOBAL SUMMIT

A senior delegation from the Philippines is taking part in the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict in London this week to showcase the country’s successful experience in driving women’s participation in peace building and to push for global change. The summit to be held from June 10 to 13 will be the largest gathering on issue. It will be chaired by British Foreign Secretary William Hague and United Nations Special Envoy Angelina Jolie with an ambitious goal to end the culture of impunity regarding the use of sexual violence, both as a tool and a side-effect of war worldwide. CARDINAL TO SING AT BENEFIT CONCERT

The benefit concert for the rebuilding of Yolanda-hit churches tomorrow will feature not only musician-composer Ryan Cayabyab but also Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle. Fr. Reggie Malicdem, secretary of the Archbishop of Manila, said the Cardinal is going to sing during the benefit concert to be held at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros. (Leslie Ann G. Aquino)
