Mendoza renews appeal to High Court
Ousted Bulacan Gov. Joselito “Jon-jon” Mendoza has urged the Supreme Court (SC) to look into the alleged decisions handed by the Second Division of the Commission on Elections, which also ruled to oust two other Liberal Party (LP) governors – Grace Padaca of Isabela and Ed Panlilio of Pampanga.
Mendoza reiterated his appeal for the High Court to issue a temporary restraining order (TRO) stopping the Comelec from enforcing its resolution ordering him to vacate the provincial capitol and allowing former Agrarian Reform Secretary Roberto Pagdanganan to assume the post of governor of Bulacan.
He said the court may also issue a status quo order to prevent bloodshed in the provincial capitol amid rising tension and political standoff.
In a 16-page petition filed through his lawyer Sixto Brillantes, Mendoza said that the pattern in the protest cases against him, Padaca and Panlilio “is most ominous.”
“There is something terribly wrong in the adjudication of the above case — both in the division level and in the en banc,” Mendoza said. (Edmer F. Panesa)
