TV game show contestant complains
A winning contestant in a popular noontime show has expressed disappointment after she failed to get the promised house and lot seven months after she won in the show.
Nena Santos, 56, of 143 Banlat Road, Tandang Sora, Quezon City said that she won second prize in the "Bigtime Pera o Bayong" portion of the show "Wowowee" hosted by Willie Revillame last July 7, 2008.
Santos said that she won a single detached house and lot in the show as promised.
"Sabi nila sa akin..nanay maghintay lang kayo ha, kasi medyo matagal talaga proseso nito," Santos said, as she quoted the staff of the show identified only through their first name as Ivy, Abigail and Elaine.
Santos said that she even saw he saw the house and lot being promoted in "Rated K" show, hosted by Korina Sanchez.
The house was advertised as fully furnished, she said.
Last October 8, 2008, crew members of the show went to her house to get a footage of Santos and her family. She was told that she could finally get the prize on February 4, 2009.
On the same day, she said that she was issued a "permit to occupy" by Globe Asiatique signed by Engineer Juanito Gregori, project engineer of the real estate company.
Santos added that she even signed a deed of sale for the property.
When she and her husband went to house and lot, located at Block 1, No. 4, Sta. Barbara Villas II in San Mateo, Rizal, they learned that someone was occupying the house.
They learned that the property was actually repossessed. "Rematado na bahay ang binibigay sa amin."
Santos said that they were told to wait for 10 to 15 days. But until now they have not received the prize.
She said that she plans to bring her problem to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
"Baka nga hindi alam ito ni Willie, kasi ibang iba yung pinapakita nilang premyong bahay sa TV kesa sa personal.’’
But she said she was hurt when she learned that the house and lot was only worth P500,000 while the third prize actually won P1 million.
