Mazda unveils drift truck

Mazda Philippines recently unveiled its Mazda BT-50 drift truck to compete in various drift competitions nationwide.
"The Mazda BT-50 drift truck is a great way to showcase the toughness and handling of our new pickup truck," Prudz Castillo, brand manager, Mazda Philippines said during the recent Mazda Zoom Fest held at the Fort Open Grounds at the Bonifacio Global City.
The new generation Mazda BT-50 launched in October 2008, boasts of leading-edge driving dynamics developed by Mazda’s sports car engineers that makes the pickup perform effortlessly under any driving condition with superior stability and control.
The Mazda BT-50 pickup will surely give one a playful driving experience on any kind of road condition from paved highways to rough muddy terrain.
"Drifting as a sport is gaining a wider following among motoring enthusiasts and we felt that developing the country’s first drift truck would certainly be a head-turner," Castillo added.
In collaboration with the Tuason Racing School (TRS), two Mazda BT-50-TRS Drift trucks were specially designed to compete in various drift events slated in 2009 led by veteran JP Tuason, team owner and will be driven by a team of expert drivers from Mazda BT-50-TRS Drift Team: Mike Tuason, Francisco Blanco and Audel Sison.
The Mazda BT-50-TRS Drift Team will put their driving mettle to the test in the forthcoming Castrol Edge Drift Underground Series scheduled on Feb. 28 at the Alabang Town Center.
