There’s no place like home - Sheryl Cruz

I’ll never say something that will somehow criticize the father of my daughter,” Sheryl Cruz said during the launching of her album, “There’s No Place Like Home.” “I do not like my daughter to diminish her admiration for her father.”
Sheryl was out of the country for about 10 years, staying in the US with her family - her husband and their daughter, now seven-year-old Ashley Nicole. Unexpectedly, her husband filed a divorced, and Sheryl is waiting the decision of the judge.
“I wouldn’t know how to react when I receive the divorce papers,” Sheryl said.
She is back in the Philippines with her daughter, and she said she is so much blessed because she went back or resumed her first love, acting, and also the resumption of her singing career. Hence, the launching of “There’s No Place Like Home” which features the following songs: “Luzviminda,” “Pangarap ng Puso,” “Love Me For What I Am,” “Ikaw Lamang Ang Iibigin,” “Kahit Ika’y Nasa Malayo,” “Higit Sa Lahat,” “Kaibigan Lang Pala,” “There’s No Place Like Home,” and “Ligaya.”
“There’s No Place Like Home” is the production of Wow Music, the sister company of Wow Magic Song videoke microphone, and Sheryl is the company’s first recording artist. She signed a five-year recording contract. Sheryl wrote “Joy,” which has become a favorite song of her daughter, Ashley Nicole. She sings it well.
“I never thought there is a composer in me,” Sheryl said. She added that writing songs - she has already written several pieces - is like a theraphy. It takes away the pain in your heart.
Falling in love again? “No, no,” she stressed. It’s difficult to imagine that after having additional children, you will again be separated. Anyway, some of the songs in the album express profound yearnings for the elusive true love and sacrifice, where there are supposed to be harmony.
Sheryl mentioned about blessings. Yes, she is appearing as a major cast in the invigorated GMA-7’s weekly show, “Obra.” It used to be four weeks for one story, but now it has become one season, and Sheryl is the first to be given the role in the expanded TV show.

Hall of Fame award for Bella Dimayuga
Ms. Bella Dimayuga, a respected and established name in the entertainment industry and a multi-awarded civic leader and enterprising businesswoman too, received recently the Hall of Fame award from the 27th Annual People’s Choice Awards.
Ms. Dimayuga, as we all know, is the founder of the famous Bellestar Productions. Prior to this, she organized other dance groups like Manilena, Belle Filipinas, Belle Aloha and now the world-class Bella and the Bellestar Dancers.
Bella still produces, promotes and manages talents like the Phil. Juicy Fruits and the Pinay Pearl Models launched a few months ago. The Phil. Juicy Fruits received the Most Promising All-Female Performers Award from the Global Excellence Awards, then the Most Outstanding All-Female Performers Award from the People’s Choice Awards.
To this day, Bella is a favorite corporate events organizer for launching, groundbreaking, anniversaries, promo/marketing and other events. She has also become a favorite supplier of costumes for rent among schools, and for TV, movie and concert shows.
The Bellestar Academy of her Bellestar Promotions which has been in operation for many years now, has produced, trained and developed thousands of talents — singers and dancers among others —who were given the chance to work abroad.

Celebrity, charity bazaar at WTC
Tintin Bersola-Babao is spearheading a three-day celebrity and charity bazaar to be held at the World Trade Center on April 24-25. Tintin said the event will feature a kids’ camp and playland, a bird and reptile show, magic shows, indoor carnival ride, daily treasure hunt games, parenting forums with celebrity moms as guests, and many other interesting activities.
On the opening day, the ribbon-cutting will be led by Vice President Noli de Castro, Joy Lim, organizers Ching Bersola and Tintin Babao, DZMM Station Manager Peter Musngi, Dr. Tam Mateo and Adelia Majaba. On that day, a Celebrity Auction will be held to be preceeded by a free mini-concert by Star Record artists.
On April 25, there will be another celebrity auction interpersed with wellness seminars by Ms. Cory Quirino, free eye care consultation by Dr. Jessica Dy, health forums to be conducted by Dr. Gary Sy and Dr. Tam Mateo, and surprise entertainment numbers, plus raffle of attractive prizes.

David’s Salon presents 10th Hair Olympics
David’s Salon’s10th Hair Olympics slated today at 5 p.m. at the SMX Convention Center, will have hundreds of creative stylists from different David’s Salon branches nationwide coming together of their annual inter-branch hair styling competition. The event will be hosted by Bianca Gonzalez and Jon Avila.
Ms. Laura Charlton, daughter of David’s Salon CEO David Charlton, will again do a collection inspired by the competition categories. David’s Salon will also be awarding its loyal employees who’ve been with the salon from 10 to 25 years.
