Western Union loses P300,000 to 2 robbers
TARLAC CITY — Two robbers who took advantage of the “security lapses” at a Western Union branch on F. Tanedo St. here walked casually out of the money-remittance office with a loot of some P300,000. The heist took place last Thursday, a few minutes before closing at 5 p.m.
Case officer PO1 Jumen Miguel said security guard, Jim Robles, 22, of Bamban town, closed the roll-up door while the two robbers, who posed as customers, were still inside the office. As the door was closed, one of the robbers poked a gun at the guard and disarmed him of his 12-gauge shotgun.
The other robber dragged the teller, Maribel Reyes, 33, of Barangay San Vicente, to the open vault, took the money, and placed it in a bag. Supt. Eden Ugale, Tarlac City police chief, said the afternoon robbery could not be noticed from the outside because the roll-up door was already closed.
