Naga City – During the “Philippine Economic Briefing” held here recently, members of the economic team and officials of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) sought private sector's support for the government’s efforts to weather the global economic storm and sustain the country’s economic momentum.

Budget and Management Secretary Rolando Andaya Jr. and National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Chairman Ralph Recto who were among the invited guests during the economic briefing at the Villa Caceres Convention Hall also encouraged the public and the private sector to provide support for the most vulnerable members of society during this challenging time.

Andaya said the infrastructure projects with budgets are lined up for Region 5 in 2009. These include the construction of roads in Camarines Sur; Albay diversion road; and Camarines Sur and Albay road and bridge projects; Bicol International Airport in Legazpi; Libmanan-Cabusao irrigation project in Camarines Sur; and the Bicol River Basin and Watershed Management Program (flood-control component).

Recto said that infrastructure projects will be fast-tracked by channeling resources into small projects that can quickly generate employment and are easy to implement by realigning funds from slow-moving to fast-moving projects.
