More than 100,000 public school students in Pasig City, from daycare to college, will receive free textbooks, school supplies, complete sets of school uniforms and Physical Education uniforms this school year as part of the city government’s educational assistance program.

The Pasig City government said that students in the 27 public elementary schools and 10 public high schools in Pasig City will receive free textbooks, workbooks, skill books, notebooks, bags, school supplies, rubber shoes, black shoes, P.E. uniforms and school uniforms according to the city’s Education Unit.

Students in the Special Education (SPED) classes and Daycare Centers, on the other hand, will receive school bags with school supplies. Those studying in the city’s public college, the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP), will receive free notebooks.

“In spite of the significant increase in enrollment of students this year, the city government is ready to shoulder the expenses for the free school supplies and uniforms of public school students,” Mayor Bobby Eusebio said.

“In these times of economic uncertainty, we are doing our part to encourage students and assist their parents. In Pasig City, poverty is no longer a reason to leave school,” he added.

Eusebio, at the same time, said that measures to protect students especially against snatchers, thieves and other crime groups are already in place.
