Vic Sotto keeps himself ‘blameless’ for Pia Guanio
Comedian Vic Sotto said his relationship with longtime girlfriend Pia Guanio is stronger than ever despite rumors that he may be falling for his new leading lady in his new film, “LOL (Love OnLine).”
“She (Pia) is not the type na magkakaroon ng insecurity,” Vic told Manila Bulletin Online and other members of the press in an interview over the weekend. “Besides, kapag ipinapadama mo ang pagmamahal mo, di kailangan magselos (ng girlfriend mo).”
Vic’s leading lady is Paula Taylor who is of Thai-British descent. She grew up in Australia and is now based in Thailand. Paula is a model, a business woman, an actress and a VJ.
Not new to such intrigues, Vic said that he makes Pia feel secure of his love by striving to be “blameless.”
“What I mean by the term is wag kang gagawa ng isang bagay na pwedeng makainis, makaselos o makasakit sa iyong partner. Kung parating nasa ayos ang kilos ninyo pareho, I don’t see (why there should be) a problem,” he said.
When asked if Pia and Paula have met, Vic said, “I don’t think so.”
The comedian added that Pia doesn’t ask about Paula or any of his leading ladies. He said that Pia is more concerned over his health and safety at and after work.
“Ang lagi lang niyang tinatanong is kung napagod ako especially kapag late na ako nakakuwi from shooting. Hindi si Pia ang tipo na nangungulit,” Vic said.
Pia is neither one who fancies expensive jewelries. This side of Pia was brought up after members of the press asked Vic about the recent controversy involving Jose Manalo, “Eat Bulaga” mainstay and also in “LOL.”
Jose’s wife was alleged to have been swindled in his jewelry business. Some people came forward saying Vic and Pia bought some of those jewelries.
“It’s not true. Unang-una, hindi mahilig si Pia sa alahas. Kelan mo siya nakitang naka-brilyante? Panay dress jewelry lang ang laging suot non.
“At hindi din totoo na nagpapabili sa akin ng kahit anong alahas si Pia. Na inuubos daw niya ang pera ko, na hinuhuthutan niya ako. Not true at all,” Vic said.
At the set of “Eat Bulaga,” Vic said that no one talks about the issue because every one of them thinks to do so would be “pointless.”
“We only tell Jose to ignore the issue tutal dati na naman siyang sira. Mukha pa lang niya, sira na,” Vic joked.
Turning serious, he added: “Kahit ano’ng sabihin ng iba, alam namin ang totoo. Asawa ni Jose ang sumabit at hindi si Jose. At alangan namang tawagan pa namin ang mga naninira na yan para lang sabihin na, ‘Hoy, hindi yan totoo!’ Nasa korte na ang kaso so let’s give it a rest.”
On Paula, Vic said that she is friendly, easy to work with and professional. He said that she has no qualms in trying out Filipino food - including Dinuguan - “but only if we don’t tell her what’s in it!”
Casting Paula took a year to work out. Vic said a core group was tapped for the task and that it was a consensus among the producers to get her.
When asked if Paula is a natural comedian, Vic said that there is no such thing.
“You don’t have to be a comedian to be effective (in doing comedy). You just have to be a good actress. Kailangan marunong ka lang rumeact sa situation. I myself am not a comedian. Nakakatawa lang talaga ang mga sitwasyon na napupuntahan ko,” he said.
“LOL” tells the story of people who use other people to meet people through the internet. Other “LOL” cast members are Manilyn Reyes, Matt Evans, Melissa Ricks, Dominic Roco, Gina Pareno, Ricky Davao and Leo Martinez. “LOL” is under OctoArts Films – M-Zet APT Entertainment.
Does Vic chat on the net?
“No, I’m not interested. I only go surfing. I don’t have a Facebook account pero madami daw akong ‘account’ duon, apparently. Madami na ang nagsabi sa akin na, ‘Uy, in-accept kita as a friend!’ But it’s not me,” he said.
He and Pia don’t have plans of having a baby just yet “kasi di naman plina-plano yon.”
However, Vic promised that if ever they agree to finally tie the knot, “buong mundo, makaka-alam!
