Maxim Philippines rises to the occasion as it features GMA Artist Center’s 19-year-old former “Starstruck” female survivor Jackie Rice on its July issue which is its third anniversary special edition.

Ever since Jackie Rice’s presence was made via the third season of “Starstruck” and in the TV shows she appeared in, there was a clamor for her to be on the cover of various men’s magazines. Fortunately for Maxim Philippines, its timing was right when it invited the actress to grace the magazine’s cover.

Maxim Philippines’ Eric Ramos explained that he really lobbied for Jackie Rice as their newest cover girl with GMA Artist Center. He believed that the timing was right to push more Jackie Rice’s showbiz career because the scandal faced by Katrina Halili opened up a perfect opportunity for the young actress to fill in.

“I thought about it really hard. Because you need to be mentally and physically ready when you do these things. Ayaw ko naman pagsisihan yun,” said Jackie.

She said that it was more her decision to pose for Maxim Philippines especially since she liked the concept presented to her.

“Lahat kami sa Maxim nag-tulong-tulong. I think kaya maganda ang result was because of our teamwork,” smiled Jackie proudly.

For her preparation, she said that she went into a drastic diet of just taking soup for two weeks. It was an ordeal but after looking at her photos in Maxim Philippines, they were all worth it according to her.

“Whenever I read about these cover girls not eating before their pictorial, I always say hindi totoo yun. Totoo pala at napakahirap,” she laughed.

Jackie who used to enter herself in a number of Bikini Open contests in her teens said that posing for a men’s magazine wasn’t as simple as wearing a two-piece swimwear on stage.

“Before I was really scared to be in a men’s magazine. Sa mga bikini open kasi you don’t have to please everyone. But for this magazine, you’d be concerned with the reactions of all the people who sees you in Maxim Philippines,” shared Jackie. “Sobrang thankful din sa Maxim. I’m sure people buying this magazine will know more about me and they will enjoy.”

Also inside Maxim Philippines’ July issue are features on the topic of sex – the underground world of “personal service providers,” secret strategies and techniques of pick-up artists, the red-light district of Fields Avenue and erotic films and stories on UFC Champ Lyoto Machida and Will Devaughn among others.

At the moment, Jackie Rice is in GMA-7’s soap opeara “Kung Aagawin Mo Ang Lahat Sa Akin.” In the series, televiewers should watch for Jackie’s transition from a timid and nerdy type of girl into a more glamorous and chic woman.

In the works too for Jackie is her second indie movie entitled “Sa Ngalan Ng Busabos” with World Boxing Champion Manny Pacquiao and Gina Pareño.

“I really like doing indie movies kasi iba yung acting. I always like to learn more about acting kaya okay gumawa ng mga indie movies,” commented Jackie.

Jackie Rice is also single because as she has learned in the past, it is better to focus on her work and career. As she would always say, “love can wait” and that her love at the moment is her job!

So how does a Jackie define sexy?

“Sexiness doesn’t depend on the clothes you wear. You just have to be confident,” she replied.
