Kris Aquino thanks nation for support
TV host-actress Kris Aquino broke down in tears in the July 5 episode of “The Buzz” as she thanked all those who have been praying for the swift recovery of her mother, former President Corazon Aquino.
“Sa gitna po ng iyak at luha [ay] nakakangiti po kami dahil mahal niyo ang nanay namin at wala na kaming mahihiling pa,” Kris said.
Mrs. Aquino, who is battling colon cancer, is “comfortable” and “not in pain,” assured Kris. She added that her mother will remain hospitalized “indefinitely.”
As for fans and supporters clamoring for more information on her mother’s condition, Kris pleads for understanding.
“Una po, ayaw ho naming isipin n'yo na dine-dedma namin lahat ng dasal…lahat ng kabutihan…lahat ng effort po…ng lahat ng Pilipino to…reach out to us. Pangalawa po, we know we are public. We know what my mom represents for our country. Pero mahirap po talaga. Sana naiintindihan n'yo kung ano yung mga pinagdadaanan namin. Please…allow us to keep this private for now,” she said.
The actress continued to thank writer Bum Tenorio Jr. for an article he wrote about Mrs. Aquino in The Philippine Star.
“This article meant so much, kasi if there's one thing that my mom has been telling us from the very start, [that is] we all need to pray for each other. And that's what we've been doing and what you've been doing for her.”
Hopeful as she is that her mom will ultimately recover, Kris said she is leaving everything to God.
“Alam n'yo ho kami, we know that God knows best. We know that whatever will happen, it's part of His will.”
For those who are wondering why she is still working amid great pain, Kris smiled and said:
“Kasi kung meron ho akong minana sa mga magulang ko, yun po yung katatagan. Yun po yung kailangang maging matapang kahit ano ang haharapin mo.”
